The territory

Terre della Cerqua is an organic farm is located in Umbria, a region rich in history, art, environmental beauties and culinary excellences. A few dozen miles away from the Fontignano village are appreciated Perugia and Assisi, centers of touristic interest, but also in the area there are authentic "pearls" worthy of being appreciated.
Behind the valley where Terre della Cerqua look out, the Trasimeno lake extends, the fourth largest lake in Italy. Enchanting synergy between the aquatic environment and hilly landscape, irreplaceable staging area for migratory birds and home life of important fish species, at the same time ensures villages of medieval origin and a unique historic landscape.
The Panicale village dominates since centuries the surrounding valleys and it opens toward the Trasimeno lake and its three islands. Birthplace of leaders, painters, poets, artists, Panicale offers a rich set of historical and artistic excellences, starting with the imposing Collegiata Church of St. Michael the Archangel, continuing with the Museum of Tulle "Anita Belleschi Grifoni", in which you can admire ancient frescoes attributed to the school of Perugino. Opera of the "divine painter " is "The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian" which adorns the wall of the small church of San Sebastian.
Halfway between Panicale and Fontignano, another testimony of the fruitful Renaissance period is the Sanctuary of Madonna of Mongiovino, whose architectural project is attributed by the nineteenth century historiography to Bramante. In front of Mongiovino, crossing the valley that host the town of Tavernelle, a must see is the Sanctuary of Grondici, where is treasured an image that depicts the Virgin and the Child between Saint Sebastian and Saint Rocco painted on canvas in 1495 by Gregorio Gregori said the Teutonic.
In the heart of Piegaro, at the base of a massive brick chimney, stands the old glass factory, which since 2009 hosts the Museum of Glass, evidence rich of contents that tells the story of a centuries-old glass production that has its roots in the Middle Age.
